Nepal’s weather and climate are defined by its dramatic topography, which rises from the flat southern plains near sea level to the frozen peak of Mount Everest. Within a distance of just 150 kilometers, the climate shifts through five distinct zones from tropical heat to arctic cold.

The southern Terai experiences a warm, humid subtropical climate with hot summers hitting 35 degree celsius to 40 degree celsius and mild winters. Moving into the central Hilly Region, home to Kathmandu and Pokhara,the weather is pleasantly temperate year-round, featuring comfortable summers and cool, clear winter days. High in the Himalayas, an alpine tundra environment prevails, marked by sub-zero temperatures, icy winds, and heavy winter snowfall.

Nepal’s climate year revolves around four main seasons:

• Spring (March–May): Mild, dry weather with colourful rhododendron blooms, ideal for high-altitude trekking.
• Monsoon (June–August): Brings roughly 80% of the country’s annual rainfall, resulting in lush landscapes, high humidity, and rain-shadow exceptions like Mustang.
• Autumn (September–November): Characterized by crisp, stable air and crystal-clear mountain views, making it the peak season for outdoor adventure.
• Winter (December–February): Delivers sunny, dry days paired with freezing night temperatures at high elevations.
